Geologi dan Analisis LingkunganPenegndapan Batupasir Firmasi Sawahlunto Daerah Sikalang dan Sekitarnya, Kecamatan Talawi, Kota Sawahlunto, Provinsi Sumatera Barat
The research area is located in Sikalang area, Talawi District, Sawahlunto Regency, West Sumatera Province. The aims is to find out the geology of research area include geomorphology, stratigraphy, geological history, and the research also determining depositional environment of sandstone Sawahlunto Formation.
Based on morphogenesis, geomorphology of research area divided into: Intrusion Hill, Karst Hills, Fold and Faulty Hills, and Alluvial Plain. The flow pattern of the rivers in research area are Rectangular and Anastomatic which in general rivers and tributary are controlled by fault and joint structure. Stage erosion of rivers are found stage Young and Mature. Geomorphic stage of research area is Old.
Lithologies exposed of the area: Limestone (Kuantan Formation) aged Carbon Perm, Granite (Granite Lassi) aged Triassic, Conglomerate (Brani Formation) aged Early Paleocene-Early Eocene, Interbedded Claystone-Sandstone (Sangkarewang Formation) aged Early Paleocene-Early Eocene, Interbedded Sandstone-Claystone (Sawahlunto Formation) aged Eocene, and Alluvium Deposit aged Holocene. Structural geology of research area developed after Eocene, where the main stress direction almost north-south (N 10° E) and formed fold structure: Santur Syncline, Kolok Antycline, and Kandih Syncline. The stress continues work and led the rock exceed their strenght and formed Kolok Shear Fault and Sikalang Shear Fault with direction northwest-southwest (NE-SW).
The analysis of 28 sandstone samples of the Sawahlunto Formation shows depositional environment of river where, 26 samples (SK-02-A until SK-02-U except SK-02-R) samples are showed depositional sub-environment channel with sediment transport mechanisms saltation-rolling and suspension and deposition mechanism at a speed 2-5 cm/s. Two (2) samples (SK-02-R Bottom dan SK-02-R-Top) showing sub environment overbank with saltation-rolling and suspension and deposition mechanism with a speed 0.7 cm/s
